Hello there! My name is Drew and I am hoping to move to South Florida and make a farm based in historical practices while recording for two YouTube channels. One channel will be akin to Tasting History except I will grow the ingredients and show that process then make the meal or other product. I would then detail its history. The second channel will be a farm vlog. Anyway, let me answer these questions:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? In the grand scheme of things I am fairly new, but my parents had a small flock when I entered high school in 2018 so I have a bit of experience.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now I am finishing college and have no chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have? In the past we had Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, Plymouth Barred Rock, Light Brahma, Silver Wyandotte, Golden Comet, Rhode Island Red, Black Star. Also Ancona, Cayuga, and Mallard ducks.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I like seeing them running around and clearing out bugs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I am a big fan of plants, in fact one of my degrees is in Horticulture. I also enjoy gaming and reading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Sure, I have worked in a greenhouse for a couple years and really enjoy growing funky tropical plants. This is something I would love to bring to my channel in Florida. I want to raise vanilla, mangos, guavas, and all types of tropical fruits. I also think this would make a unique venue for a YouTube channel.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I actually had an account years ago when I first got chickens and ducks with my parents so I have known about this site for a while.
I might lay out (dream) plans for my farm later if that would interest anyone. Frankly I need to get the land first before I actually dive full in, mostly I am here for research purposes at the moment.
Thank you, have a blessed day!
