Introducing myself! I’m Jenny aka silkiemommy23!
I’m new to chickens so please forgive me if I call something the wrong term. I swear I’m gonna get it correct! Lol
I have 4 straight run’s recently learning I actually have white silkie bantams. Their names are Duncan, Daisy, Webb, and Boca! All girls! I’m in the process of designing a coop with attached run. I’m good with building being as I actually build furniture. I’m eager to learn. Whatever advice you feel I need to know please tell me. Thanks in advance for answering the million questions I have yet to ask. Lol

Hello, and welcome to BackyardChickens! I just became a BYC member but have had chickens for several years now. I love silkies! They are my favorite breed of chicken, and with their calm temperament and all that fluff, what’s not to love about them?!
I have eight silkies: a splash, a buff, a black rooster, and five three-month-old buff x black crosses.
I have heard that silkies are one of the hardest breeds to sex, but I have found that comparing sizes as they grow has given me the most accurate guess results. I will say it does seem a little early to be sure on their genders, but I also like to make my hypotheses based on their behavior, although this will be different for each individual chicken. As you watch them grow and get to see their different personalities, you should be able to tell the differences between the males and females easier.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Feather sexing chicks is extremely inaccurate. I wouldn't count on having all pullets.
Your brooder is very small and you should consider upgrading it soon. If you've already built the coop then you can brood them out in the coop with that plate and they would be much happier and healthier outdoors. Good luck!
