Hello to every body I have had chickens all my life but I'm thinking of getting in to showing but I don't have a clue where to start or how to get my hands on some show worthy birds

Smitty, welcome to the flock. What breed/breeds are you interested in showing? Once you have that figured out you might like to post on your state thread (at "where am I, where are you," in the social forum). You may find local breeders with show stock, so you wouldn't have to have them shipped. You would also get to see first, what you are buying.

You could also put the breed name in the search box and see who posts on it, and what they have to offer.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

If you search in the Chicken Breeds section of the Forum there is a section with threads about showing, there are likely lots of folks there that would help you out. You may also consult with a local 4-H or FFA leader, even if you are too old they may be willing to get you started in the right direction.

X3, check out you state thread for local breeders https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread and look at the Breeds, Genetics, and Showing forum ... if you know what breeds you are interested in do a search on the name to find the main thread for them, there will be show breeders participating in the threads for most breeds. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/14/breeds-genetics-showing and don't forget the BYC Buy-Sell-Trade forum, there are show birds advertised on there occasionally.
