I pulled these sample questions from a different post, so I will answer them!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am a brand new chicken owner (almost 3 weeks now)! My SIL has had chickens for years and I was always just a little disgusted by the big poops on the driveway at her house (she free ranges), but the eggs were good. On our latest trip to visit her, it was like a light bulb went off in my head and I decided it would be great to have chickens! I like farm eggs.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Only 4 chickies for me right now - they are about 7-8 weeks old. They were hatched in my SIL's hay mow by one of her hens so don't know the exact birthdate.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Mutts! Mom is a black Australorp / silkie mix and Dad(s) are any of 3-4 roosters that I have never met. I am worried that 2 of the 4 may be boys so I will post pictures in the "What gender is this" forum once I can get them to stand still.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I came across BYC when we decided to get chickens and my husband starting building a pallet coop. I thought I better start my research!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Love to crochet, read, go for walks, tend bees

Welcome to BYC. It is a little easier to take photos if a helper can hold the individual bird so it can be photographed. Though I think some people must use double sided tape on their feet,for the great results they get.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed; very hard, calm and gentle, and the best layer of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. I will look for your pics on What Breed or Gender Is This? Good luck with your flock.

I took a look at your birds there and I think you're guesses are correct, but I wouldn't cull just yet. I would post again in another three weeks. By then, their gender should be really obvious. Good luck.
