Hey y’all, my name is Brandi and I’m a mama to 3 beautifully girls (8 yrold twins & a 13 yr old). I’ve been researching the different breeds for a couple years now, and had planned to start in the spring with our chickens/chicks.
However, I couldn’t help myself when I saw an add for SFH here in SC...I was in the car & brought home an assorted lot of chickens (including SFH) back in August. I am not impulsive person AT ALL, but I’d been wanting the swedish flowering hens so long and so badly... so I got 1 SFH crested hen, 2 Black white crested polish hens, 2 chocolate laced Brahmas, & 3 SFH poulettes. I was so excited be 2 of the chicks threw white!
It’s December & the chick coop/run is almost complete( don’t ask-my father is helping me and he’s a perfectionist, but I’m grateful nonetheless). I’m just sad my 3 beautiful poullets are most definitely the most beautiful roosters ever seen- I’m so heartbroken to have to rid of them.
I am still tying to decide on sand vs shaving in the coop- as there are many pros & cons given by both sides it seems. It says either hot & humid in Charleston almost all year long, so I hope I make the right decision.
