Hello everyone! I am new to chickens, so new, I do not have any yet. I have an old incubator of my husbands from when we where teens, and from when he use to have chickens. It currently contains 24 Rode Island Red eggs that a friend gave me. They are 8 days in, and looking great
I also have an order of 25 chicks coming the 5the of Feb. The shipment contains 10 Ameraucana, 5 blue laced red wyandottes, 5 Female white leghorns, and 5 Blue silkies. All but the Silkies are for my husband. He adores the Ameraucanas. The silkies are for me
After he told me about their characteristics, I just knew that was the chicken for me. So I will have Rode Islands and Silkies and my own coop. I do not plan on keeping any rode Island males, or more than one Silkie rooster. So I imagine I will have around 14 total. My husband and I built a brooder already, and will be working on our coops very soon. I am very excited. I hope to learn a lot from everyone
Now it is time to check out some coop plans.
