Hello! We're new here.

This is our first post and wanted to say hi. We are a family living in New York City and doing our best find the balance between the fast paced environment around us and the sanctuary we have created in contrast to that. Earlier this year we hatched our first backyard chickens with reasonable success, some of which was due to advice from this website. We did not imagine it would be as intense an adventure as it has turned out to be and today a second batch of eggs arrived in the post and is "resting" as we write. Here is our flock! We're fairly certain we have 2 BLR Wyandottes females and 2 males, plus one Silver Double Laced Barnevelder boy.
They are about two months old now and very happy chickies. Of course we will have to find a new home for the boys sometime soon but are more than a little reluctant as they are so lovely and sweet. We will be looking on the site for advice on how to do that! Here they are, then and now!:
