I'm new to keeping chickens! So I have a quick question. I have 2 easter eggers, 2 Rhode Island, and 2 barred black.
I know they all lay good eggs, but are they the kind of chickens I can eat?

Essentially you can eat them all, just some are meatier than others. Out of those my preference would be Rhode Islands as they are large birds which carry more weight than others.

Rhode Islands are good dual purpose birds and are commonly kept for this reason. I would only eat the birds if you killed them yourself though. I would never eat a chicken that has died of natural or unknown causes, best of luck! :)

If you want real meaty birds, people get Cornish x - they eat like crazy and have explosive growth so they can be processed at 10-12 weeks. If not, they don't live much longer because their fast growth wears out their legs and major organs.
