I am a chicken owner. We started a little over a year ago with 3 hens and a rooster. We now have 3 hens, and 10 pullets and a sitting hen with 6 eggs expected to hatch July 20. We really enjoy our chickens...!!!!

I have a broody hen as well, and I'm so excited to see the eggs I ordered hatch.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have, make comments, or just tell fun stories or post pics.

Best of luck with your flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Chickens are definitely a lot of fun to raise. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your hatch.)

I feel like I am always looking up information for chicks. So glad I now have a place to ask and actually get a reply!!! First question...how long after our eggs hatch will the momma wait before bringing the chicks out of the nest?

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Good luck to you and your broody with the eggs. I've just had my first broody hen hatch 4 eggs off 9 days ago. It really is amazing how nature works and a wonder to behold as she brought them off the nest to learn how to feed and drink. I've always used an incubator to hatch chicks but the natural way has been very enjoyable and continues to be as she raises them.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Hi, welcome to BYC!

This is a wonderful place to get your questions answered and learn all kinds of interesting things about the birds we all enjoy so much. It sounds like your flock is growing nicely!

I've never hatched eggs but there are a lot of members that have and there's a forum about that here:

Usually they get up with-in a day of all the eggs hatching. They may stay longer if a few eggs haven't hatched.
