I have been interested in joining this forum since I had two Serama chickens as my pets. By joining this forum, I hope I can get more useful information about chickens such as their diet, health and routine.

Besides,Im also interested in knowing more about ornamental chickens such as Silkie.

Welcome to the BYC flock! Glad you joined us.

Be sure to check out the Learning Center. You will find lots of helpful information there. If you can't find what you need, be sure to create a thread and I am sure you will find many helpful folks on here that are willing to share their knowledge.

Actually Silkies are good for more than decorative purposes. Hens generally go broody often and are among the best mothers. People often buy them just to use as natural incubators. Silkies have hatched duck, guinea and other eggs. Some buy fertile eggs of breeds they want and swap out the silkies eggs for them. Apart from that silkies are generally very docile birds and a great favorite with kids.

Check out the "Silkie thread," if you have questions about the breed. There is also a variety of silkies called "Showgirls," the name refers to males as well as females. Check out the "Showgirls thread" and see for yourself.

Do you still have your Seramas? Those are some great looking little birds! Silkies are very popular so I'm sure you'll find lots to read about them here. If you have questions, always feel free to ask.

Thanks for joining us!
