I just wanted to say "Hello" to all the fellow chicken lovers out there! I am happy to be joining the site!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I would consider myself new to chickens even though we had some for a few years when I was a kid. We got our chicks July 8th, 2015 and then were 3-7 days old!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We started with 8 chicks, but had to take back the 3 roosters out of the bunch...so now down to 5. The Rooster went back to the chicken farm (No kill) and the owner either keeps or rehouse them..I had one Salmon Faverolle Roo that she was really excited about...man I wish I lived in the country, I would have loved to have kept him!

(3) What breeds do you have?
1- Americana, 1- Lincolnshire Buff, 1- Buff Orpington, and 2 Plymouth Rock Bantams (1 is barred and the other is buff)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I Found the BYC website when I was researching chickens on the web, and then I found a BYC Facebook site as well!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
My family loves the outdoors, we love camping, kayaking or canoeing, hiking, riding bikes, books, movies, and of course playing and having fun!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Our family consists of my husband, me,our daughter, 1 lab mutt dog, and 2 orange tabby's. I would love to have more dogs and cats, along with rabbits, goats, llama's, and a couple horses if we lived on some land!

Thanks!
Dana

Hi Dana, nice to meet you. Glad you joined the BYC flock. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. Please supervise the dog and cats, they tend to love chickens in a 'bad' way.

Hi Dana and

Thank you for the nice introduction, it was fun to read. If you haven't already seen it, check out the Learning Center for a lot of very good articles on all sorts of poultry topics. And of course, if you have questions, always feel free to ask. There is so much information available here and a lot of friendly, helpful members.

Good to have you here!
