Hi. I'm new here and just looking for great ideas to have a functional space to have a few (12-20) chickens. I welcome any information, advice or hazards to avoid.
! It's great to have you in our community! Not sure what you mean by functional space....you're talking about a coop & run design? There are lots of coop ideas in the Coops Section here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops
And for just general chicken education the Learning Center can't be beat - tons of great articles covering the entire range of chicken care and maintenance: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
And if you like to chat with fellow in-state poultry folks, locate the OR thread in this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Thanks for joining BYC and best of luck on your poultry adventure!!
Howdy, howdy, and welcome to Backyard chickens! I am so glad you were able to join us, and I hope you will make yourself at home here and enjoy it as much as I have!
x2 on the Learning Center, there are some very helpful articles on a variety of topics located there. If you have some topic in particular you're interested in, try using the Search feature (it's located at the top left of every screen).
As you have already received links to some great starting points from redsoxs, I will just wish you all the best.
I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
