Hey everyone I am new to the chicken gig....kinda. I raised some chickens when I was a kid but admittedly I didn't do much with them and my parents kinda took over. How I am much more excited to raise them this time around. I am a new proud parent to 12 babies. The hatchery called them ideal 236. I really don't know the breed. I bought for egg laying initially but also want to get into broiler as well. I have joined here because every single time I wanted to look up a question I ended up here. Now I don't have to look up I can just ask!
I am a nurse by trade with my beautiful wife and three growing children. I want to get back to my roots a bit as a farm kid. Also like the idea of spending less time and money at the grocery store. This is a step in that direction. Any tips or bits of knowledge are always appreciated!

Ideal 236 was breed to be a good bird so you are starting with good ones! Congrats!
I'd have to say the best tip is building a secure coop and second best would be proper feeding.
Welcome to BYC!
