Hello

Yes the hens are supposed to be laying eggs around late this month - sometime next month so they are well over 18 weeks i'm pretty sure and i checked tractor supply that's the best place i could find around here and could not find flock raiser that's why i got the crumbles its says on the bag it has lots of nutrients and stuff for them i do have oyster shells just have not put them out for them yet

Next time you go to buy feed, ask someone there at Tractor Supply about the Flock Raiser Feed. I buy mine at Tractor Supply here in Texas. Your store should be able to get some in. The reason I like it is the pullets can self regulate how much calcium they eat. Keep up the good work!

This is the feed I use. It has 20% protein. Then offer oyster shell on the side. The finisher you bought looks fine, it just has a little less protein. The finisher is better than the layer feed for pullets not yet laying & rooster.

I know exactly where Red Oak is. I live in a very small town southwest of Bridgeport. It's been extremely hot here! Yesterday 102 & heat index over 105. My pullets aren't getting near as much foraging. They spend most of their day laying in the cool soil & shade of bushes, trying to stay cool.

Sounds like you got some good advice and are on the right track. If you ever have leftover veggies, or veggie scraps, your chicks will love it as a treat! They also love spaghetti (but it doesn't have a lot of nutrition). When I cut up watermelon I give mine the rind that I don't eat and they get a lot more out of it than me and eat it down until all that's left is the tough green skin. Try different things, you will learn what they like and what they don't and they will learn to come to you because you are the bearer of snacks ;). I don't exactly have tame chickens, I don't pick them up and pet them and cuddle them like some people, they are a hobby and will hopefully supply my food but not a replacement for my dog, but they still all come running whenever they see me! Have fun!

LOL they already stay around their coop when i do let them out of it until i come out then i get mobbed by a flock of chickens and i dont pick them up and such but i will pet them when they let me one of the chickens really like me scratching her back lol and i do know i give them oregano when i feel they need it or just but a bit of oregano oil in their water as an antibiotic but i really dont buy veggies and such we're more of a meat family not really into veggies but i might have to buy some just for them.
