I am fairly new to chickens. We just brought home 6 RIR hens this spring. I love them already! They are so much fun. Such funny hungry little things. Just to mix things up we got 2 Muscovy ducklings the other day. Any tips on having chickens and Muscovy together? They are separate right now but we would like to integrate. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to BYC. Many duck owners also keep chickens, so they may be best placed to advise on integrating the two. Here's the link to the duck forum -

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Glad you are enjoying the RIR's, I've raised them before and always liked them too.

It's nice to have you here!

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow My ducks, chickens and turkeys all live together in the same pasture. Make sure to give the ducks a small pool to swim in--but don't be surprised if your other birds enjoy it too.

Thank you! How long of a waiting period would you have before you let them together in the same run?
If you got them from separate places I'd wait a month. When you do bring them together keep a close eye them until they get to know one another.
