I'm digging this template here... takes some of the pressure off, so
here it goes.
I'm Tavi,

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am not exactly new to chickens, we had them as kids... but as an adult
in charge of responsibility for them then yes, I will be new. ;)

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None, though I am currently planning for 8 chickens and 2 ducks.

(3) What breeds do you have?

I plan on a varied flock.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I have been searching the web high and low for chicken information.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I sometimes knit, sometimes I like to target shoot, am planning for a nice garden this year.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I'm getting married soon & just bought a house
with a bit of land that I am anxious to get working on.
I am a CNA, I work in a hospital ICU...& love my job.

G’Day from down under Tavi :frow Welcome!

Congratulations on your new home, your forthcoming nuptials and of course, soon becoming a chicken and duck parent :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. There are some down the bottom of the page which are duck specific. If you are starting out with chicks, these two may be helpful:
Topic/Question of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising Chicks

These two may also be of assistance:
Topic of the Week - Getting Started, Keeping Chickens
Topic of the Week - Keeping the Flock Safe from Predators

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
