Hi! I'm new to chickens. My daughter, BBZZZZTT on BYC, ordered 5 chicks and was sent 7. Our city only allows 4, so I'm getting the extra 3!
I will have 2 Easter Eggers and a Welsummer. They are 4 weeks old now and I'll actually get them at my house when they are big enough to stay outside. They live only a few blocks away so I visit them regularly.
Very happy to be here, I've learned so much from the articles and threads here.

Thanks! Not entirely unintentional, just early. I'd planned on getting my own chicks next year after seeing how it went with my daughter. I was going to get bantams because my mom had pet bantams when she was growing up on a farm, she said they followed her everywhere. Now I'll have big ones first!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

I really like our Welsummers! I think they're a really pretty hen, and I like the darker brown eggs, too.

Welcome to BYC! Great to have you here!
