Hello, thinking about having chickens for eggs. Not sure it'll be worth the time and responsibility. I do like my 3 day weekends and a week away on occasion.

Hello and welcome! If you are going away overnight, you will need to either have an automatic coop door or can just ask a willing neighbor to close the coop door and let them out in the morning. (Bribe them by saying they can keep any eggs they find ).
There is lots of great information out there, just be aware that you will need to have someone take care of them while you're away!
