I have had chickens for just over a year after rehoming ex-laying hens and I currently have 4 chickens but only 2 lay. They are only hybrid chickens raised for farms but I would like eventually to have special breeds.

I originally found BackYardChickens.com when googling information about treats our chickens can and can't have a refer to the list often.

I also have 4 cats which are frightened of the chickens so won't go near them!!

Some of my other hobbies include crochet, cross stiching, amateur dramatics and playing Rugby

I look forward to chatting with other chicken enthusiasts x x

Hello and welcome!

What special breeds of chickens are you interested in getting later? I love having many different breeds of chickens. Each breed has its pros and cons! My favorites are silkies, buff orpingtons, easter eggers, cochins, and dixie rainbows, though easter eggers and dixie rainbows are kind of hybrids, too.

I look forward to hearing more about you and your chickens!

G'Day from down under Hullchicks :frow Welcome!

Kudos to you for giving the girls a second chance at a good life in a loving home :clap

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
