I have had chickens for about two years now. Currently I have 17 hens and two roosters. I raised my first chickens from a home made incubator. The eggs came from a neighbors hen that laid some eggs under my porch. They have been free range until recently. I lost 3 to hawks so now I have them locked up most the time. I wish I could let the run around durning the day but I’m not ready to lose more chickens.

View attachment 1369360 Thanks. I’m in Virginia and I have 5 acres. Mostly wooded. I have a coop with a large dog run on the back. I use to let them out to roam and come and go as they pleased durning the day and just close them up at night. If they stay under the trees the hawks don’t seem to attack, just when they are in open parts of the yard. The attacks also happened in winter when the trees had no leaves. I recently bought a movable fence from Omlet that I’m trying to keep them under the trees with but it’s not really convenient. I will check out amazon, thanks.
