I am a newbie here, I've been thinking on getting some chickens for awhile now.

No chickens so far, but I'm planning 4 to start with

Open to suggestions on breeds.

Google, I was looking for some information about the type of roost bars, how tall a fence should be etc etc.

My sister-in-law's sister has a few chickens, she is fostering some chickens and this year she is hatching some chickens. I house sit her house a while a go and like them chickens. I have a cat.
