G'Day from down under radar.... :frow Welcome and Congratulations! :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

OK!! quick question. I have been watching my barred rock girls (i set up an old baby monitor to watch the brooder) and all four eat and drink run around and dont ever seem to be bunched up under light. So i feel comfortable to say they seem happy, the issue is one of them looks like she is starting pasty butt. I gave electrolytes for the first day in their water and then 1 tbsp acv to 1 gallon water since. She is pooping tons and actually is the biggest of the four. I have been cleaning her bum with warm water and a towel, then a little olive oil (once). everytime i have cleaned her, her vent reacts and has even pooped on me once. i know they are only 4 days old and not everything clears up overnight. But is there something i am missing? Something else to do or just wait it out for a couple more days and keep cleaning her bum? Just nervous! Thank you in advance!

Radar. try washing your chicks butt with epsom salts in the water, and then use a anti-fungal spray on the cleaned area (athlete's foot spray works). I give my chooks plain yogurt to help keep their guts in shape, and occasionally a few tablespoons of vinegar (with the mother in it) in their waterer.
