Hello everyone, I'm FriendlyJicken! I joined BYC mostly because I need help with a broody hen, among other things. I'll answer the sample questions, I guess.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not new to chickens, I first got chickens when I was 3 or 4 years old. Ever since then, my family has kept a small flock of chickens as pets and for their eggs.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 11 chickens. 9 hens, 1 rooster, and 1 week old chick.
(3) What breeds do you have?
White Leghorns, Barred Rocks, and ISA Browns.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found BYC after doing some research on broody hens. I've also found it before while looking for cures for sicknesses, and I finally decided to join the community.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy playing video games and reading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my parents and siblings, and I'm still in school. I plan on majoring in computer science in the future. I have a dog and a cat, but they usually don't bother our flock. I live in Florida, so it is usually very hot and humid. However, none of my chickens have ever died from heat, luckily.
