Hey y'all,
I'm new to BYC, well sorta, I have looking at articles and threads for two years getting advice and ideas for all things chicken related. I finally decided to join after I got my first chicks in May. I currently have two hens and five chicks. I have lost lots of chickens over time. I first started with a small flock of four, got them as pullets, had them as laying hens, one was killed by a possum in the nesting box, lost another to a hawk. Months later we got two more to add to our flock of now two. A month later all four were killed by neighborhood dogs. A while after that we got four laying hens off of Craigslist, one was killed by a raccoon and the other disappeared. The two that were left are the two we have now, a Rhode Island Red named Patti, and a red star named Stella. We have two RIR chicks, named Starburst and Carolina, two BR chicks, named Marsala and Rotisserie, and one australorp chick named Enchilada. They are my world right now, my sweet little balls of no longer fluff, but feathers. They turned a month old on the ninth, and had a birthday party with cake and techno chicken music.thanks for taking your time to read my chicken raising life story will post pics!
