Hi
I live in Cental Scotland and have 3 dogs, a cat, 6 hens and 5 ducks. I've had poultry for over 25 years, and they are free range but live in a converted brick garrage with inside and outside runs.
I had 6 ducks till last weekend when my son found one of the younger girls dead. She had been attacked and my first thought was rats, although it did occur to me oen of my drakes might have done it. I didn't examine the body too closely but it looked pretty bad along her back and rear end.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday morning I found the other youngster crawling towards me with wounds on the back too. I managed to clean her and tend to the wounds and they are healing well, she is bright, and is eating and driniking a little, but she cannot control the leg that was trailing when i found her. It doesn't seem broken as when I put it under her she can stand unaided for quite a long time.
When she tries to move forward she can't move that leg and sits down with it splayed behind her.
I am going to fill the bath with warm water to see if that helps, but wondered if anyone had any other thoughts on it.
Thanks for reading
