Hal The Softball Snail
In the Brooder
Hello! My name is Hallee, but I'll just go by Snail/Hal. I'm new to raising birds, and was planning on keeping chickens before finding out that our area doesn't allow it. Maybe I could get around and raise Quail instead?
A little about my area. I live in Florida in an area near the Withlacoochee river and literally down the road from the preserve. We have four dogs, two larger ones that are aggressive towards animals. However we do have a small chain linked fence with a dog door for the small two and one of the big dogs. The other just jumps it, lol. We also have about 4.5 acres fenced for the dogs, and in the back there is a gate leading to about 3 more acres, more wooded and unfenced. The coop would most likely go there so then the dogs can't get to it.
Now, a little about my dogs, because why not?
Willow is our youngest dog. She's a pointer cattledog mix, with a bit of beagle. Or, so we assume. She was found as a few week old puppy in a trailer park, and we offered to Foster to find her a home. However, my dad fell in love with her. She's my sister's dog but also doesn't mind getting extra attention from others.
Linc is my mom's big boy, he's a pointer boxer American bulldog mix. We got him from a shelter, his half brother we formerly had before he had to be put down after a bad dog fight with my former puppy.
Xena isn't really anyone's dog, she's the oldest at about 11 years old and very fiesty. In all honesty, she probably likes me the best because I let her lay with me while I'm in my room. She's a Chihuahua.
Now, for my baby, Herc. He's a rat terrier thing, and probably inbred. He was supposed to be my mom's dog, but he didn't like anyone and was very mean before I persistently hung out with him and read him stories or sung songs. We give him a few mean names, like freakshow, but it's all in good spirit. He likes chicken a bit too much.
And, a little about me. I play travel softball (6+ years) and recently took up boxing. I also work 3 days a week for babysitting to get some side cash
