I have always had animals, but last year started my own family farm. I have all other animals but never thought I would fall in love with chickens. Lol
I have about 40 chickens along with muscovy ducks and Guinea fowl.
My flock consist of orpingtons, ameraucana, cream legbars, welsummers, Delaware, marans, golden comet, swedish flower, super blues, easter Eggers, olive eggers, etc. I like them all!!
I love having chickens because they are very entertaining and my family loves fresh eggs. We also enjoy the miracle of chicks hatching!
Along with our chickens we raise Dexter cattle, a miniature breed used for meat and milk production.
I live in south Louisiana with my husband and 3 children. We enjoy our country life and like living off the land and being able to provide for ourselves, lik our grandparents did. I dont have a green thumb yet, but I try.
I find myself on BYC almost every day searching for something, always wanting to learn more!!
