Hey everyone! I am new to the BYC community~ For my lack of imagination currently I shall answer the helpful questions provided
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first generation of chickens and ducks in March/April of last year and am currently on my second generation!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I started out with 6 chickens and two ducks and now I have 25 chickens, 4 ducks, and 16 guinea fowl.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have Lavender Orphingtons, Sapphire Gem Sex-links, Speckled Sussex, Black Sex-links, Amber Sex-links, and a mix breed of my Lavenders and Sapphires. For my ducks I am not sure of the breed names but I have a gray one, a black one, a white one, and a brown one (for now if it ends up being a male) that I believe to be a Rounen.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
When they run they remind me of little velociraptors .
They are fun to hang out with outside. A couple of my hens run up to me and jumps in my lap when I am sitting down.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I draw webcomics, read manga, watch anime, cook and bake
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have three dogs (two chihuahuas and a lab mix) and a hedgehog. I live with my mom and her husband and my younger brother. I act as a live in nanny for my little brother. I am trying my hardest to learn gardening better, though it is a little hard to get certain crops to grow good with our dirt being a sandy clay type dirt.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC a couple times when looking for answers about random chicken issues I have had. I just noticed it was a community where I can join and ask my questions when I need to so I figured I should join so I can ask questions when needed.
The black chickens that are not in my hand are the hybrid Lavender and Sapphires that didnt inherit the Sapphire coloring.
