Hi all! I’ve been reading here for months and learning so much from you. I’ve only just picked up my first chicks 4 days ago. Six 3 week old lavender Orpingtons. They are my my first ever and even with all I’ve read and prepared for I find myself stumbling through now and have so much learn. I have so many questions!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I’ll do my best to “pay my dues” lol
It’s been a long rough 4 days since picking them up. I work and picked them up on my one day off, Monday. I was also getting sick that day which quickly progressed into what feels like a horrible flu. Yuck
I’ll try to make a long story short.
My newly bought shed was not yet completely ready when I found these little ladies and I arranged to pick them up sooner than planned because I was afraid they’d be gone. Brought them home with the plan of keeping them in the yard in that cage with food and water in the shade while we got the coop/shed ready. A couple of hours in and my first dilemma, Florida out of control heat with babies spreading wings and looking overheated. Until that moment I was more concerned about if they’d need a heat lamp! I’ll start a new thread on all of that.
Anyway, no idea if I made the right choices but they are settled into their new coop and happy for the moment. I don’t have great pictures right now because I’ve been working all week but I’m about to have the weekend off and promise to get better ones
