Silkies raised by a silkie breeder will most likely make the best broodies.

Those raised by a hatchery probably will not. They want eggs to hatch-In large commercial incubators or sell to others. So the broody genes probably have been bred out over generations.

Thanks. I got 2 of my silkie girls from a breeder and a silkie cockerel from the feed store in hopes I could breed them when they are older.
