I have had both RIRs and Buff Orpingtons and both are great choices, RIRs are excellent egg layers but may not be so friendly, where the Buff Orpingtons are great egg layers, a bit more friendly, great mothers and will get along well with other chickens breeds. Good luck with your flock.
