Good morning! I was prompted to introduce myself when I registered, so here goes. I’ll be getting my first chickens in just about 2 weeks, I bought my coop last night and will be assembling it over the weekend. I’ve ordered 3 (16 week) pullets, 1 barred rock, 1 black Australorp, and 1 Easter Egger. I live in a residential neighborhood so I’m not allowed any Roos and I thought starting with 3 seemed manageable.
I also have 2 dogs, a cat and a boa constrictor- who eats frozen mice- not chicks! My other hobbies include crochet, sewing, cooking, reading and making all sorts of art. As for work, I’m entering my 15th year of being a dog groomer.
Ive never even been around chickens so I’m here to learn every single thing I can to enable myself to have happy healthy chickens and a clean (fly and rodent free!) yard and coop.
I can’t wait to get started!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Chickens are super fun to keep. Have you stopped by our Learning Center yet? Lots of great articles to help you get started and all the other aspects of keeping them proper here.

Make yourself at home here and ask as many questions as needed!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
A pre-fab??!! Oh boy. Is there any way you can convert part of a shed into your coop or build a pallet coop instead? Those little pre-fabs never have enough run space, are terrible to work with and cheaply made. It won't last long. And they never hold the number of chickens they claim to.
