Hello I'm Jeanette wilson from Missouri. My Buff Orphington who isn't a year old hatched out about 10 chicks. My question is can I grind down scratch and pellets to make chick food to last until tomorrow?

I've found making a mash out of the starter helps the mother give it to the chicks.

I had chicks hatch a day early and feed store was closed.. I have given them mashed up boiled eggs for 3 days til i got their feed.. Easy fix in a pinch.They are all over a year old now, so that didnt hurt them.

Absolutely, anything will work in a pinch for even a few days. As @Hughes Wildlife Farm mentioned, chopped hard boiled eggs are wonderful emergency food and can be fed for extended periods of time to birds of all ages, sick and healthy. Eggs contain all the nutrients and building blocks of life.
