Hi all
We're new to chickens. Currently have 5 eggs in an incubator. They've been in for 13 days now.
We candled them on day 7 and again on day 10. One was clearly infertile so we took it out. We think the others look ok but are newbies to candling.
The eggs are Buff Orpingtons, we are keeping all fingers and toes crossed that the others hatch ok ... and for few or no cockerel. Although friend who lent us the incubator says Buff Orpington cockerels would be in demand so hopefully could rehome them
Does anyone have tips they are happy to share? Wondering about how will make box for them when hatched? Books show boxes heated with lights but think will be keeping them in the house until big and strong enough to go outside so not sure if will need heat source in box?
