Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum, though I have been looking at it for a while.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've had chickens my whole life (my parents had some growing up), but recently got back into backyard chicken keeping again.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
13 chickens in total - more on the way!
(3) What breeds do you have?
11 Cochins and 2 Silkies
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love the companionship of chickens and raising them! They sometimes have the quirkiest personalities and really add a lot to daily life - especially during times like this where we are staying home a lot.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crafting (knitting/sewing/etc.), art, music (cello), and photography
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a marine biologist who grew up with a veterinarian father - hence the love of animals - who has moved from one coast of Canada to the other. Originally a west coaster, I'm enjoying east coast maritime life.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this community through google originally, and have enjoyed the posts ever since - time to join and ask a few questions of my own.
