We were looking into that. Our dogs are fine around the birds, we have house rabbits so they understand not to chase small creatures. The fence is up in the back lot, hot wire was being discussed. I’m thinking the whole perimeter, but definitely the coop/run. Traps as well for raccoons. We have invested enough already, we don’t tolerate predation. The first coop is getting along well, it’s a reclaimed garden shed 8x16. There is a pick-up bed camper we will turn into a coop next. Lucky for us this place was left a GIANT mess (dude, these people that lived here before, I just can’t even) so there’s lots and of building materials to work with. Yay for more projects!

I think it is about an acre and a half. They used to have horses on the plot. Really small town, they say we can have chickens as long as we share eggs! We plan to have a small farm operation. People have to eat and all. Ohh!! And we want to do a haunted house! This building came from nightmares! Kinda reminds me of The Shining. I wasn’t at the property line, still had about 50ft back, but this will give you an idea.
