Hi! We recently repurposed a building on our land as a coop and picked up 13 silkies! They are about 8-10 weeks now and we have really enjoyed them. We also have 3 buff Orpingtons coming next week!

I have reallu enjoyed reading here and picking up great tips!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens- did you get straight run silkies or have they been sexed?
Silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow 'or lay eggs. The females generally make very good mamas, when they are feeling" broody'' meaning they will sit and hatch fertile eggs under them.
