Hello! My husband and I are brand new to owning chickens! We got our first batch of chicks from a local feed store about 7 weeks ago. We are only allowed 4 and no roosters in our city. We have a lavender Orpington, Buff Orpington, Barred Rock and a Speckled Sussex.
we are really enjoying our chicken experience so far! It has been a great experience for our 7 year old son
We cannot wait for them to start laying eggs in a few months.
A little background on us, I am part owner of my family’s coffee shop and my husband drives a semi. We love the outdoors and hope to some day have more land to have even more animals! We have a 15 year old dog named Lou who is a Rottweiler German Sheppard mix. We also love to garden, the chickens are loving all the different veggies we have been giving them!
I have been directed to the Backyardchickens site for so many of my questions so I decided to finally join! I’m excited to be part of the backyard chicken community!
