(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Im new to them! I started about a year ago
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
12 + 3 chicks and 3 more to hatch soon. Though I dont think Im keeping them permanently
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 silkies, 1(Red Shaver?), 3 Wyandotte(?), 1 Booted Bantam (we're not 100% sure but they look the same) and 5 mystery birds.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Personally, I'm a bird fanatic. But their personalities are by far my favorite.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I sew a lot, I did practice archery and I do Oddites (Roadkill taxidermy and Bone harvesting) and I go to holiday camps at the neighbors stable. (They have amazing horses!)
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family is rather large, we're spread out across the US though. A lot happens and the days get crowded sometimes. We have 4 dogs, they are not free roam as they went after some cows. 3 cats who stay in a separate part of the house and of course! Chickens and ducks(4).
As of right now, I can't work. But right now I clean houses, petsit and of course, collect any spare cents of any donations or if someone is buying a chick off me.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this site thru a desperate search for anything I can do to save a cracked chick. She had fallen from the third story of our nesting box and hit the ground head on. The whole back of her head had caved in.
I decided to stick around, as a lot of my questions were answered. I made an account so I can try my best to answer questions I do know and ask any I need answered.
