I am new to chickens, just got a couple of Old English Bantams! The rooster is so super affectionate, the hen not as much but she will allow me to hold her for short periods, no longer than a couple minutes though. He would be content to be held all day, I think..lol! I'm wondering if this is normal behavior, also, if I am working in the run, he will come and peck and flog my legs, what is he trying to communicate? Sometimes he even jumps down from me holding him to do it. I thought at first that he was telling me he wanted held but if he is getting down from being held to do it, clearly he is trying to tell me something else..lol! Thanks for any info or insight

Hello, and welcome to BYC. He is telling you, "Get away from my pen and my girl." It's aggressive behavior and should be curbed. Be very careful with him around your face.
But he runs over to me when I am there. I put my hand down and he jumps right up on my hand. He even "cuddles" and "purrs" when I am holding him. He has goes to sleep when I pet him. So maybe this is just him saying I am too close to her? He is fine when I am holding him but as soon as I put him down, he starts that.
