That’s a great idea! Chickens are pretty low on the todem pole when it comes to predators. My girls free range all day but have a large run that I can keep them in if I need to (bad weather, hawk hanging around, etc) We lost one girl the neighbor’s dog (she had hopped our fence) and a chick to a hawk, I was so upset.I'm really excited about starting my flock. Next step is the run! They have a coop ready for when they are a bit bigger. Although I would love to let them free range with a safe area to return to, I have an energetic dog who already wants to the play with them. I also have to worry about hawks. I'm trying to decide if I want to go with a kennel and put wire on top.
Lol ok people think I’m crazy but I swear they “talk” back. They make these cute little chirps and purrs when I baby talk themHello, and welcome! Good luck with your flock! Don't worry, I talk to my chicken's too, when I'm out there with them. A few will even try to talk back.![]()
