It seems to be during the day. They’re in the coop at night and are fine come morning. I’ve checked the fencing and don’t see any holes anywhere but the one yesterday had its foot missing which weirded me out

Glad to meet you, Vee. So sorry for the loss of your father. What a big change in your life to move out to his homestead! Sorry you are losing chickens. (I presume the quail are not free range and are not what you are losing?) Best wishes solving the mystery and keeping your birds safe! They will certainly complain if they are used to free ranging 24/7, but better grumpy birds than dead ones, and you can tell them I said so.
