Hello!

Welcome to BYC, Mary. More pictures, please! I'd love to see your alpacas.
Thank you! This is Pamplemousse, born a few months ago. She was weak after being born and had to get a blood transfusion hence the bandage around her neck. She’s doing much better now.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We have had chickens on our farm since before I was born. I grew up around them.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Over 100. They all have names :)

(3) What breeds do you have?

Lots of different breeds. Some of my favorites are Cochins, Ameracaunas, and Polish. I would love to get some Barbu D’Anvers as well, though I’ve never owned any.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

They’re pets to me more than anything. I love seeing all of their different personalities and traits. They’re fascinating to watch.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Reading, writing, needle felting, horseback riding, and model horse collecting.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have 2 horses, alpacas, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, and 2 parakeets.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I found it while researching something about one of my hens several years ago. I love talking about chickens and asking/answering questions about them so I decided to join.

Pic is of my Easter Egger Clover, aka “Bingus” :)
Welcome to BYC!! Whoah! Do you remember all their names?
