Hello BYC! I have visited BYC many times since 2019 to learn more about chicken care -- it's been a great resource. I currently have three hens in an Eglu and extended homemade run. Sadly, I've joined because we had a recent bobcat attack while the hens were free-ranging and I have questions about rehabilitating one injured hen.

Thanks - we haven't seen him or her back yet, but are careful about not free-ranging unless we are out with them. Still, our paddock fence is a bit flimsy in my opinion, but we try to keep them in the predator-proof run in the morning and evenings.

Glad to meet you, but very sorry to hear about your injured hen.

Besides learning how to help her get better, you might also want to know more about protecting your Eglu and extended run from future attempts by that bobcat. Once they find a nice easy food resource, predators keep coming back! Here is one article about improving protection from predators with hardware cloth and another about using electric fencing. I hope one or both will help you and your little flock along! Best wishes with that hurt chicken!
