Hello!

My name is Jessica and I recently became a first time chicken owner 5 weeks ago. I found this sight by googling for pictures of the difference between a roo or hen. I currently have 8 5 week old chicks and they are all different breeds from straight run bin at rural king. At least a couple times a week if not every other day I'm googling hen or roo photos lol .
Welcome to BYC!! Merry Christmas!

Very good to know thankyou! What about age do the roos come into breeding?
It varies some try at 12 weeks and the older hens put a stop to that. Some don't even think about it until 5 months or older. I think the average advice is to separate them around 12 to 14 weeks.
