Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

Yes. I leave my flock to live their lives as naturally as possible. I reduce my egg use when the eggs stop coming and waterglass surplus eggs during the summer so I have eggs for consumption during winter.
Hi! The eggs have bloom and can sit on the counter without frig, but I don't know what waterglass means. Would you be so kind as to explain that?

Counter kept unwashed eggs last about 2 weeks.
Clean, unwashed eggs are waterglassed by submerging in a solution of 1 oz. pickling lime to 1 qt non-chlorinated water. They can last a year or more.

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies!
You are so right! I am interested in gardening and homesteading, so there are more topics as an extension to chickens!
