Do you need help with making sure you don't lose anymore chickens? Many of us are good at chicken security hereWelcome!I am new as well! I have 10 chickens now, and a very sweet tame rooster. We started with 23, but we have bears and the like, so they've decreased.

If you have any tips I would be thankful! We are in the process of getting a big run and/or electric fence right now...Do you need help with making sure you don't lose anymore chickens? Many of us are good at chicken security here
1/2 inch hardware cloth is your best friend. Use it securely on walls and roofs of runs and make a hardware cloth apron - this is when you extend your hardware cloth - after it is fastened to the bottom, out 2-feet and cover it with anything to hold it down like rocks, gravel, dirt etc...this prevents digging predators. As far as aerial predators, the hardware cloth on the roof of your run takes care of this issue for the run, however, I allow my chickens to "controlled free range" in my backyard. Ever since one of my rooster had an encounter with a red-shouldered hawk (he is fine since I heard it and came out right away), I now have my entire backyard netted for aerial predators. If you want the link for great netting, I would be happy to share - I got the link from someone here.If you have any tips I would be thankful! I know it is expensive, but, it is really holding up well. And like I said, I received the link from another member here.@triciayoung thank you for all the info! Sounds like you have your chickens well protected. I would be grateful if you sent me that link, yes!
