(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My wife and I don't have chickens yet. We are doing our research and learning before we dive in.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 0 but we want to start with 4.

(3) What breeds do you have? What is a breed?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? The fresh eggs and having fun taking care of them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I love woodworking and planting.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We have 2 dogs, one is a boarder collie and the other is a boston.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D I just found you on google and thought I could learn more from this site.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Visit the coop and run forum to learn how to design and build a proper coop. If you say you want 4 chickens, build it for 20! You have no idea what you're getting yourself into with these guys. They're extremely addictive. You've been warned!

Welcome. It is very wise of you to join before getting chickens. I wish I had. Pay attention to our consensus about pre-manufactured coops (they are bad), the amount of secure space (more is better), and security (1/2 inch hardware cloth is your best friend). Also, make sure your chicken selection is good for your climate.
