Hi everyone,
We live in Southern Ontario and have just begun our backyard poultry adventure. We currently have three 5-6 week ducklings and nineteen 2 week old chicks! (We only intend to keep the female chicks long-term though, so approximately half). I have wanted chickens for what feels like forever. My 14 year old daughter really wanted the ducks and we live on the river so it seemed like a natural fit. I read that having ducks and chickens living together is totally doable, although I'm beginning to wonder about the wisdom of housing them together! I am wondering if there is a forum here or a subgroup for people in my region? Looking forward to learning lots.

Welcome to BYC, Stacey. If you keep male ducks, they shouldn't be housed with female chickens. They can severly injure or kill them. (Not intentionally, it's their anatomy that causes the proble. )
