Hi Cluckers!
I'm delighted to join this group. I had chickens in my younger years then a long hiatus and now I'm back at it with 5 hens and a rooster. The hens are: a Rhode Island Red, Barred Plymouth Rock, Jersey Giant, Easter Egger and a Black Australorp. Larry (nee Lorraine) the roo is a beautiful Light Brahma. The hens have just started laying. We get 1/day from Myrtle the BPR and today there was a blue one from Esther the EE. All the hens have rosy combs so I'm expecting an egg onslaught any day now.
We're (newly) on 1/2 acre with lots of fruit trees and after years of gardening in the midwest, I'm learning how to apply those skills in zone 10b (Vista, CA)!!
I found this forum when Larry's giant crop was making me nervous (he's fine) and I needed reassurance (which you all gave).
Looking forward to getting to know you! -- Citruschick aka Amy
